Called “the scientists of Hinduism,” the Rishis of ancient India were the scribes of the Vedas. They developed the spiritual science of Hinduism, Sanatana Dharma, to ensure the constant renewal and progress of India’s spiritual tradition and culture.
The term “Rishi” or “rsi” originally denoted the composers and singers of Vedic hymns. However, according to post-Vedic traditions, the rishi is also a “sage” to whom the Gods revealed the Vedas (Knowledge).
The Vedas were written by many Rishis.
The Rishis were what we would describe as perfect human beings. They could co-exist with nature. They were modest, humble, and never harmed anyone or anything. According to Vedic literature, the Rishis could go to the realms of the gods and demons.
Their unusual ability to describe events that would take place in the near future has made many people wonder whether these beings were of extraterrestrial origin or simply extremely unusual and very gifted individuals.
